Student Houses in Uplands, Swansea

It may be renowned for famous residents of times gone by (including Dylan Thomas himself), but Uplands has undergone considerable regeneration since then. Today, most of the district's larger houses have been converted into student accommodation in Uplands for students of Swansea University and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

It's no wonder that this neighbourhood was recently listed as one of the hippest hangouts in the UK: from the Brewstone Bar offering an extensive list of craft beer to the industrial stylings and extravagant menu at Burger Co on Uplands Crescent, this area has all the makings of a student hub. Once upon a time, nightlife in Uplands was non-existent. Nowadays, it rivals Swansea's city centre for the best nights out.

Talking of Uplands Crescent, this area is host to high-street shops and supermarkets a-plenty, including Boots, Tesco and Sainsbury's. Looking for something a little more unique? The Western side of Bryn-y-Mor Road is brimming with independent boutiques, late-night bars and restaurants that put the chain eateries to shame.

Regular transport links, such as the number 10 bus, will take students to the Singleton Park Campus and back in no time - making those early morning lectures a breeze. Student accommodation in Uplands ranges from those cosy 1- or 2-bedroom homes to student houses designed to fit a sizeable group of six, seven, or eight.

Despite the modern properties on offer in Swansea's city centre, students are still flocking to the now-trendy Uplands for its unique charm, convenience and pockets of hipster culture.
