Student Houses in Shieldfield, Newcastle

Just east of Newcastle city centre is Shieldfield, a small student area that gets its name from the old Anglo-Saxon term for a shelter in a forest clearing. Contrary to the name, Shieldfield is a more buzzing city than country - boasting a range of pubs, restaurants, shops, and cafés. That being said, avid runners and amateur basketball players will find it easy to keep active thanks to the expansive park at City Stadium.

Student accommodation in Shieldfield ranges from modern apartments to renovated Victorian terraced homes, catering to the needs of the local community. With the University of Northumbria within walking distance, students living in Shieldfield can practically roll out of bed and into a lecture theatre.

Finished class early? Appreciate the vast collection of art on offer at the Biscuit Factory, an arts and crafts gallery just waiting to be explored. Celebrating the end of exam season? Grab some friends and head to the picturesque outdoor garden at Ouseburn Garden, a buzzing bar and Bowie-inspired diner serving creative cocktails, beers and burgers.

Why UniHomes?

When you're moving home, it's always easy to judge the costs of living upfront. At UniHomes, we're solving that problem for students by bundling up the costs of utility bills and rent into a monthly payment. The prices you see on our Newcastle properties are the estimated rate you'll pay each month, including your gas, electricity, water, your broadband and even your TV licence.
