The city of Exeter combines the best of the Great British countryside with the cosmopolitan lifestyle into one glorious hybrid. A UNESCO City of Literature, Exeter is also the proud host to an award-winning museum and three multiplex cinemas to keep residents entertained and immersed in the culture that the city is steeped in. It’s no surprise that Exeter consistently ranks amongst the best places to live in the UK!

In the city centre, the bustling Princess Hay Shopping Centre gives students access to all the high-street heavyweights, along with an eclectic range of independent boutiques. At night, Exeter comes to life; clubs like Rococo, Unit 1, John Gandy’s and the Monkey Suit offer student prices to make evenings as affordable as they are memorable.

Life on Campus

The Streatham Campus is the largest campus of the three that make up the University of Exeter. Here, students have access to a medical centre, a supermarket, a surplus of eateries and plenty of shops to stock up on necessities.

It’s also home to the main Students' Union bar, known as the “Ram”, where students can enjoy a quiet drink in the day or a wild night on campus. Whether it’s an open mic night, a karaoke night or a themed pub quiz, it's always a laugh. Cornwall House also has a student bar and a nightclub run by the Students’ Guild!

Current students and alumni cite the warm and welcoming community feel when reviewing the University of Exeter, and it’s easy to see why. At the Student Guild, there are over 250 societies to join, including for Pokémon enthusiasts, Harry Potter fans, and a climbing club for those seeking to work on their core! There is truly something for everyone, be it a sport, an interest or a faith-based society. For those looking to get a head start on their CV, the SU also provides students with the opportunity to get involved with how the Guild is run by applying for executive positions.

Those studying at St Luke’s Campus near Heavitree can make the most of the scenic countryside while still only being a short distance from the centre. Just hop on an A, S or 57 Gold bus from the park and ride on campus and you’ll be in the centre in under 15 minutes.
