The Bristol student housing market: trends explained

Clifton's status as the most-searched-for Bristol area for student housing is unsurprising. It's naturally very handy for the University of Bristol's Clifton Campus, but with the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the Downs all falling within Clifton's boundaries, there's always loads to do in the area. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants dotted around the area, perfect for starting your Saturday night in before heading on to the city centre.

Speaking of which... not only is Bristol city centre great for shopping thanks to it being home to brand names like Primark and more, it's also filled with independent art galleries, local cafés, small-chain eateries, micro pubs, and niche bars – making it a haven for those who like to shop small and appreciate art and culture. The city centre's nightlife is great, too, thanks to its abundance of bars and venues like Milk Thistle, La Sorella, White Bear, Tribe of Frog, Lakota... the list goes on! If this is your vibe, then maybe a student room in Bristol city centre is the move for you.

If you're a student at the University of the West of England, student accommodation in Bristol's Filton is a strong option. Filton's a little quieter than other parts of Bristol, but it's handy for UWE students for getting to campus. Most people living in Filton find that Bristol's stellar transport links make it super easy to get to and from the city centre for nights out and shopping, and nearby Gloucester Road offers loads in terms of cute cafés and indie shops.

A world-famous and ever-mysterious street artist hails from Bristol, and Bristol won't let you forget it. Try going on a Banksy walking tour and seeing if you can spot all 12 (give or take) of his artworks hidden around Bristol.
