If you're studying at Southampton's Solent University, then the city centre is the perfect place to live. Solent is located in the heart of the centre and is only a few minutes' walk away. The University of Southampton is a bit further afield, with Highfield Campus a 30-minute bus ride away. If you're primarily based here, try looking for student accommodation in Bassett or Portswood.

Houses in the city centre are unfortunately pretty hard to come by, so you'll have better luck finding a student apartment. Student properties tend to be for smaller groups, so if you're in a group of four or more, try looking close by at The Polygon district.

Southampton's city centre has a bustling social life, and not just in terms of partying. If you're a culture nerd, you've got Southampton's theatres right on your doorstep. The Mayflower Theatre, Nuffield Theatre and The Stage Door are all just around the corner. Plus, the heart of the city is home to Westquay Shopping Centre, a modern mall boasting over 100 shops and restaurants.
