Most students like to live in the middle of the action in the city centre, which was the most in-demand area in Preston in the 2026-27 letting season. But Plungington is also popular for its closeness to campus and affordable Victorian housing options.
Plenty is going on here, and Preston offers the eighth-cheapest night out in the UK (on average) for 2026-27, according to UniHomes' study! As this city is quite compact, there's a high concentration of bars and clubs within a walkable distance, perfect for student nights. Check out The Twelve Tellers for one of the cheapest pints in the city, and Blitz for a boogie on top of our recommendations above!
Aside from UCLan's Student Centre and library, you'll also find a quiet spot in The Harris or some of Preston's best cafés, including Cafune Café (the UK's first South American coffee shop) and Town House Coffee and Brew Bar.
