Manchester student housing market: trends explained

Would you be surprised if we told you that Fallowfield is the most sought-after part of Manchester when it comes to student accommodation? No? We didn’t think so. This student suburb is conveniently located on the University of Manchester’s doorstep, making it popular with anyone and everyone who doesn’t want to face a long commute to those 9 AM lectures.

Aside from being home to a plethora of large student houses (we’re talking 4-bed homes all the way up to 10-bedroom mini mansions), Fallowfield is also just around the corner from Rusholme’s famous Curry Mile – a stretch of road that’s jam-packed with Indian and South Asian restaurants as well as loads of takeaways and pubs.

The city centre is also a really popular choice for student accommodation in Manchester, thanks to how accessible it is for Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Salford students. But the city centre has way more to offer than its proximity to uni; the student flats and PBSA buildings in Manchester city centre are all handily close to the hundreds of bars, restaurants, clubs, pubs, shops, venues, and cafés that central Manchester is known for. From the Northern Quarter to the Arndale, there’s loads to do in Manchester city centre.

Aside from Fallowfield and the city centre, popular Manchester suburbs include Salford and Withington, both of which are a little further out but are still easy to get to and from (like everywhere in Manchester) thanks to the city’s amazing transport network.

What students in Manchester say about using UniHomes

Trustpilot reviewer Bekah says:

"You can’t go wrong with UniHomes for bills as a student - it’s affordable and great for the price, I’d recommend it to everyone. This will be my second property using UniHomes and we actually found this one on the UniHomes advertisements! Would recommend doing that too!"

Google reviewer Ashden says:

"As a second year uni student, we were very out of our depth when sorting a shared house after living in halls. We went through a letting agent in Manchester that used UniHomes as the bills provider for the property. UniHomes have been nothing but reliable, giving us all the info we need for our utilities and supporting us with any problems that we have had. Makes the payment much easier than doing utilities separate, taking the weight off our shoulders as students. Will 100% be considering them in the future for our next student houses. Spoken nothing but positive about them, would 100% recommend."

Trustpilot user Joel says:

"My queries were easily sorted out with proper solutions offered. It's always nice talking to any person from the support team."
